That Datil, a little spicy but sweet enough to love. Visit St. Augustine for this two-day event focusing on St. Augustine’s special relationship with the datil pepper. There will be a Cook-Off on Saturday with several local restaurants competing. Enjoy activities and datil pepper tastings, this annual event celebrates the cultivation of the datil pepper in the nation’s oldest city. Admission to the Festival is free. Tasting tickets for the Datil Pepper Cook-Off on Saturday are available for $1 per taste. The festival takes place on Saturday, October 1, 9am to 4pm and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2016. The Datil Pepper Restaurant Cook-Off will be held on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m at the St. Johns County Agricultural Center at 3125 Agricultural Center Drive, St. Augustine 32092. The facility is located at the end of Agricultural Center Drive, accessible by CR 208 from SR 16.
