For our neck of the woods, things are slowly getting back to normal. All of our restaurants are open and are allowed to seat patrons at full capacity. Masks are not mandated, but you can wear one if you’d like. Among these changes we are happy to announce that some of our fall traditions will continue!
Sykes Family Farm Crop Maze
We just love this time of year as the pumpkins are ripe for pumpkin spice “everything”, cooler nights and the Crop Maze at Sykes Family Farm!! The farm is about 20 minutes from Beacher’s Lodge and well worth the memories that are to be made there.
The crop maze is open every weekend in October except Halloween. The twists and turns through this 9-acre corn maze has been creating laughs and smiles since 2010. Enjoy a hayride or a walk through their beautiful sunflower patch. If the kiddos still have energy to burn after their maze adventure, they can jump it off on one of their jumping pads or play in one of the play areas. If you and the family love animals you can visit with the farm animals and even milk a cow!!!
General admission is $13 and children 2 and under are free. For our military and senior citizens the cost for admission is $11.
Nights of Lights
Yes, folks, the Nights of Lights will still be happening this year. All the lights will light up downtown St. Augustine like they have many years now, but it will be a tiny bit different than it has in years past. Here are the changes you can expect this year.
The city had decided that since social distancing seems to be working in the fight against Covid-19 that the annual festivity of “light up the night” will not be happening this year. But there is a positive twist to this. They are giving us an extra week of seeing the festive lights light up the town! The lights can be viewed from November 14- January 31.
The parking situation will be a little different as well. Many of us have taken advantage of the parking spots that have shuttle service to the historic district. Sorry to announce that there won’t be a shuttle service this year. But that’s ok, we all need the steps anyway, right?
Many of us love to tour the Nights of Lights via trolley. The change for this is now that you must pre-pay for your tickets and pre-determine the time you will ride. The trolley companies are not permitting long lines to board the trains. You can purchase tickets with either Old Town Trolley Tours or Ripley’s Believe It or Not
First Friday Art Walk
The First Friday Art Walk is back and our guests and locals alike couldn’t be happier! Every first Friday of each month the downtown district of St. Augustine hosts its monthly Friday Art Walk. It had been shut down for a while due to Covid-19 restrictions. But it’s back now and the artists can’t wait to see you.
Each first Friday of the month gallery owners open their doors and invite you to meet the artists and view their work while enjoying drinks, food and casual conversation. The walk winds around the historic district starting at 6pm. Along with the various art, food and drinks there will also be live music – rain or shine.
This is simply a few favorite events that are making a comeback for the First Coast and we are hopeful that many more will follow. Get a change of scenery and visit us in Crescent Beach and enjoy all that our area has to offer.
