Fall is right around the corner, and for those of us that don’t want to give up the sweet reprieve of summer, it can be sad – but it doesn’t have to be! St. Augustine is the perfect place to be in fall, especially right now with a huge variety of fall festivals guaranteed to make those season-changing blues fade away. From the SAiRA Food & Wine Festival, to the Creekside Festival, we’ve put together all you need to know about the biggest events of the season.
SAiRA Food & Wine Festival
This festival comes with a guarantee of fun, but also with the promise that your money is making a difference! This festival, thrown annually by the St. Augustine Independent Restaurant Association, raises funds for the St. Augustine Boys & Girls Club. This festival will take place on October 6th at the elegant and historic River House. There will be a beautiful collection culinary specialties coming from a variety of St. Augustine’s best restaurants paired with wines from around the world.
Greek Festival 2019
The following weekend, October 11 – 13th, will be the annual Greek Festival! This wonderful celebration boasts traditional Greek dances and music interspersed with phenomenal food and drink. Designed to highlight the importance of Greek influence on the historical city, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church creates a Greek village to allow for residents (or visitors) to get a taste for the islands. Admission is $5 for adults, with children and active duty military getting in for free! With everything from Greek coffee and wine to moussaka, dolmades and spanakopita, there is something for everyone.
Creekside Festival
If bluegrass and arts and crafts are more your style, head on over to the Creekside Festival on October 12th and 13th! Their schedule is jam-packed with bluegrass artists on two different stages, with acts ranging from Seminole Ridge and Remedy Tree to wildly talented local artists. You can also witness historical demonstrations, enjoy a beer garden with free samples, and taste your way through a selection of food trucks. For those with little kids, there are a variety of kid-friendly activities including free face-painting.
St. Augustine Songwriters Festival
For those interested in music, the St. Augustine Songwriters Festival will be the highlight of fall! This festival highlights the songwriters behind all of your favorite songs, allowing them a stage on which to speak about their inspirations and the process that brought the song to life. Starting Friday October 25th and running until Sunday the 27th, this festival will be a crowd-pleaser with drinks, food, a silent auction, and the songwriters!
With so much to do, there shouldn’t be a dull moment in your fall schedule!
