Although there is nothing like St. Augustine’s beaches, Crescent Beach is often overlooked when folks are staying with us at Beacher’s Lodge. Crescent Beach is tucked between the traditional tourist beaches in St. Augustine, and Matanzas Inlet which is much further south. Crescent Beach has a long crescent-shaped shoreline where it meets the Atlantic Ocean, hence its name! There is nothing that compares to the tranquil beaches found in Crescent Beach, but here is some more information on the location and why it should be your next vacation destination.
Why Visit Crescent Beach?
Ask any local, and they will definitely agree that Crescent Beach is just as good, if not better than the traditional beaches found along St. Augustine’s Coast. Crescent Beach tends to be much wider and is not nearly as congested as many of the other typical beaches in the area. Crescent Beach is located on the southernmost part of Florida’s Historic Coast and is found in a mostly residential area, making your experience very quiet and personal! That is also why the locals consider this beach to be ‘Old Florida’; the beach was home to some of the first resort style homes built out in the 1920s and is still known for its peaceful and ‘local’ personality.
When you choose to stay with us at Beacher’s Lodge, you choose the tranquility of Crescent Beach right at your doorstep. Staying in Crescent Beach places you right outside of the typical tourist zones found along Florida’s Historic Coast.
Crescent Beach Activities for the Whole Family
Visiting Crescent Beach is the perfect win for any guest; all the same great activities and experiences, but made more personal and peaceful for you and your family. When visiting Crescent Beach be sure to explore all the options when it comes to outdoor fun! Visitors can of course enjoy just relaxing on the beach, but you can also enjoy a variety of water sports such as swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, and even consider renting watercrafts such as paddleboards, kayaks, or even full-size boats! The opportunities are endless! Also driving on the beach is always an option. Beach access is offered at the Crescent Beach Ramp on Cubbedge Road at a small vehicle fee. Other facilities that are offered throughout Crescent Beach include off-beach parking, restrooms, showers, pavilions, and picnic tables. While you’re on the water in the area, make sure to check out the Salty Beach Snak Shak! You’ll have the opportunity to swim up and get food straight from the intercoastal waterways of Matanzas!
