Here are some independence day events planned in St. Augustine this year, you won’t want to miss!
A Firework Show Over the Intercoastal
An annual event in St. Augustine is our epic firework show that takes place right over the Castillo de San Marcos and our beautiful historic bayfront. This firework show is one of the largest shows that will take place this year on the East Coast and will feature over 5,000 shells exploding as high as 2,000 feet and some exploding within a hundred feet from the top of the fort. In advance of the firework show, there will be a two-hour live music concert in the Plaza de la Constitucion, which you should be sure to check out.
This firework show is orchestrated to impress their audience. The show is roughly 20 minutes long and is choreographed to music that is projected throughout the entire bayfront. The show begins at 9:30 p.m., but road closures will begin at 8:00 p.m. allowing for people to flood the streets giving everyone a fair view of the spectacular show.
Following the firework show, be sure to take a walk around downtown St. Augustine to enjoy countless restaurants and bars to put a great end to your independence day. A great restaurant to check out would be the A1A Ale House or Prohibition Kitchen; both restaurant’s have great food choices and are in great locations within walking distance from the Castillo de San Marcos.
