When planning a vacation to Florida most people consider checking out the nature that we have to offer. What’s the best part about these fun spots in nature? They are just 15 minutes away from us!
Canopy Shores Park
Whether you want a place to have a family picnic, let the kids run wild or see an outdoor concert, Canopy Shores Park is the place for you! With over 33 acres of land and a 1.5 mile loop paved trail made for biking, walking, or even bird watching, you are bound to have some fun! They provide mutt mitts too so you can bring your furry best friend. They have plenty of parking and restrooms as well. They are always ever changing and trying to upgrade the park to give their visitors an experience they will never forget. They are currently working on having trail fitness equipment available to everyone, educational signs listed, a boardwalk with a fantastic view, and a kayak/canoe launch. If you are looking to get any professional photos done this will be the place to do it. With gorgeous hammock canopy trees, your lighting will be spot on no matter what angle the picture is taken.
Faver-Dykes State Park
While driving down the long road to get to Faver-Dykes Statepark, you will begin to experience “The Real Florida”! The park has bountiful areas for fishing, relaxing, and a kayak launch. There’s something to do around every corner with the most beautiful scenery to match. The kayak and canoe launch is located at the southern end of the state park at a place called Pellicer Creek. The creek is roughly 2-6 feet deep and has an abundance of freshwater and saltwater fish. They do offer canoe rentals by the hour and for a full day at a time. They also serve as a campground and have roughly 30 spots for tents or RVs maxing at 35 feet. Pellicer Creek is famously known for its extravagant views of bird watching. There are over 100 different species to view! They offer campfire circles, playgrounds, and exquisitely clean restrooms. This park is one to put towards the top of your list when visiting Crescent Beach!
Reserves Research at Marineland
The reserves research at Marineland covers about 73,000 acres of land stretching from Ponte Vedra to Palm Coast. This protects all of the land and the creatures living among it. The reserve is divided fairly equally between two counties. Flagler County covers the southern end and St. Johns County covers the northern end. The main location is at a small field office at Marineland and there is a free guided nature walk where you can learn all about the research that is conducted and what Marineland does in keeping our creatures safe.
