Summer is winding down, back to school events are starting up, and fall is right around the corner… but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end! Though there are hundreds of reasons, we’ve narrowed it down to the top 10 reasons why you should fall in love with fall in St. Augustine.
1. Live Music
Live music is a quintessential part of St. Augustine living, and it doesn’t end when summer does! 2. Historic Events
St. Augustine has a rich history, and the fun historic events sprinkled throughout the city are a guaranteed good time, especially in the wonderful weather that the city has to offer in the fall. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, witness a real cannon firing at the Castillo de San Marcos complete with reenactors in period dress and living historians willing to explain the incredible history behind the fort.
3. Sing Out Loud Festival
Sing Out Loud Festival is running every weekend in September with a variety of musicians, ranging from Kacey Musgraves to talented local acts. The Festival is being hosted at a variety of different establishments, and the best part is that the festival itself is completely free.
4. Founder’s Day
St. Augustine is turning 454! Help the city celebrate with this wonderful event that includes fun activities such as a first Thanksgiving meal reenactment and weapons demonstrations. Check out more details on the event page!
5. Greek Festival
One of many festivals that St. Augustine has to offer, the Greek Festival, will run Friday to Sunday from October 11th to the 13th. There will be a large array of Greek food and drink available to the public, all served up in St. Augustine’s Historic District!
6. Halloween Events
Halloween is one of the best days of the year; St. Augustine is known for its love of the holiday! Enjoy a pub crawl and walking tour through some of the most haunted sites in St. Augustine, or enjoy some family fun at one of the city’s pumpkin patches.
7. Saint Benedict the Moor Blues Festival
This event is all about blues and BBQ! According to the event page, there will be plenty of beer and brisket, and they encourage guests to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the atmosphere.
8. Moses Creek Kayak Trip
Enjoy a guided kayak trip around the area while you enjoy the phenomenal weather! These trips will be running from September 12th through the 15th and are a wonderful experience for the whole family.
9. Amphitheatre Farmer’s and Flea Market
Enjoy local fresh produce and handmade crafts at the St. Augustine farmer’s and flea markets! There are even bounce houses and small rides and games for the little ones at the flea market. The farmer’s market is every Saturday, and the flea market every Saturday and Sunday.
10. SAiRA Food & Wine Festival
This event raises money for the Boys and Girls Club. This is the 10th annual festival, and is hosted bayfront at the River House. Enjoy a showcase of the best that St. Augustine has to offer.
